Does the app work offline?
Yes. Browsing, search, breed profiles, the Breed Finder quiz, Compare, Favorites, and the group guides are all bundled and run on device. Only the official FCI web pages and PDFs need an internet connection, because they open in Safari.
What information is shown for each breed?
Every breed page includes a written overview plus size, height, weight, lifespan, coat type, and 1-5 ratings for energy, shedding, and trainability, along with good-with-kids and good-with-other-dogs notes and the FCI group, section, country of origin, and recognition status. Version 1.2 adds a Care Guide with grooming schedule, daily exercise target, and Health Watch notes for each breed.
What is the Care Guide?
The Care Guide appears on every breed detail page and has three sections. Grooming shows the recommended brushing frequency, bathing interval, grooming demand level, and a short technique note for the breed's coat type. Exercise shows a daily minimum in minutes and a mental stimulation note. Health Watch lists the well-documented health concerns associated with that breed's FCI group, drawn from published veterinary research. A disclaimer is included — these are research starting points, not diagnoses. Everything runs offline.
How do I share my favorites list?
When you have at least one favorited breed, a share icon appears in the Browse tab toolbar. Tap it to open the standard iOS share sheet, which lets you copy the list, send it via AirDrop or Messages, save it to Notes, or use any other share destination on your device. The export is plain text containing each breed's name, group, country, lifespan, energy, shedding, trainability, and a link to the official FCI page.
How does the Breed Finder work?
Answer a few lifestyle questions about your space, activity level, shedding tolerance, and household, and Any Dog ranks the bundled breeds that best match. It is a research starting point, not professional advice, and runs entirely offline.
Can I see heights and weights in inches and pounds?
Yes. A Metric / Imperial toggle appears above the measurements on every breed profile page. Switch it there, or go to the About sheet (tap the info button in Browse) and change it under Settings. The preference is saved and applies everywhere — breed profiles, Compare, and the favorites export.
How do I filter by coat type?
Tap the filter icon in Browse (or the Filter chip in the quick-action row), then choose a coat type from the Coat Type picker in the Filter and Sort sheet. Coat type stacks freely with the group, section, country, and size filters.
Can I share a breed comparison?
Yes. When you have two or three breeds selected in the Compare tab, a share button appears in the toolbar. Tap it to export the full side-by-side table as plain text via the iOS share sheet. The export uses whichever unit system (Metric or Imperial) you have active.
Why do some links open outside the app?
Official breed references are opened in Safari so you can view the source material directly from the FCI website.
